Ed Butcher
What are you passionate about?
Bringing great people, simple design and technology around issues that matter - this is me at my happiest and most fulfilled. We are living in an age of ‘hidden treasure’: undiscovered solutions to important problems. Hunting for these is satisfying and fun.
What are your greatest accomplishments?
I’m really proud of the breadth of work that I have been involved with across 17 years in education - including secondary teaching in South London, establishing two schools and a containing Trust in North and East London, helping to setup Oak National Academy and The Ambition Institute, and working with governments on establishing new ‘Teach Firsts’ around the world. And now most recently building Habitude.
Working at lots of different levels in the system has given me a good understanding of its perennial challenges, and why some ideas take off whilst others flounder.
What do you love most about being part of The Key Group?
The Key Group marries system level thinking and leadership with practical, real-world solutions in a really unique way. I’m not sure that anywhere else can lay claim to helping pupils, teachers and policy makers to all navigate the day ahead.
The people that make this all happen are smart, sensitive and wired for action, and it’s a real pleasure to work alongside them all.
