iAM Compliant joins The Key, expanding its compliance support for schools and trusts
The Key, which supports more than 17,000 schools and trusts with statutory guidance, training, governance software and compliance tools, has acquired iAM Compliant
iAM Compliant is an estates management and compliance platform used by more than 3,500 schools for site management, health and safety, risk management and training
The acquisition comes as trusts and local authorities complete their first annual return against the DfE's School Estate Management Standards
28 October 2026 – The Key has acquired iAM Compliant, a specialist estates management and compliance platform used by more than 3,500 schools.
The acquisition extends The Key's existing compliance offering into estates management, helping schools and trusts manage a wider range of statutory responsibilities through practical tools, training and guidance.
Managing school estates is a significant responsibility for schools and trusts, with statutory checks, risk assessments and compliance records often managed through spreadsheets, paper records and other manual processes. These can create additional administrative work and make it harder for leaders to maintain clear oversight of compliance.
The Department for Education's (DfE's) School Estate Management Standards (SEMS) set out expectations for effective estate management. In autumn 2026, trusts and local authorities are completing their first annual return against these standards, placing greater emphasis on consistent, proactive oversight of school buildings and estates.
Founded by Luke Pargeter, iAM Compliant was built specifically for school estates and premises teams. Its platform turns statutory requirements into clear, practical actions, helping teams to:
See what needs to be checked and when
Understand what they can manage in-house and where they need a specialist
Keep checks, incidents, risk assessments and compliance records in one place, with a clear evidence trail
iAM Compliant also offers more than 500 training courses to help school and trust staff build the knowledge and confidence to keep their sites safe and compliant.
The acquisition builds on The Key's existing support for schools and trusts, which includes statutory guidance, safeguarding and training, alongside GovernorHub for governance and Robin for website and policy compliance. Bringing estates management into this offering will enable The Key to support schools and trusts across an even broader range of compliance responsibilities.
Rebecca Muenger, Managing Director, The Key, said:
“Behind every safe school building is a site manager or school business manager making sure the checks are done, the risks are spotted and the evidence is there when it’s needed. It’s vital work, and it often happens quietly, with little time and not enough support. With trusts and local authorities completing their first annual return against the DfE’s estate management standards this autumn, being able to show you have a grip on your estate is now part of the job.
“iAM Compliant makes that job easier, showing teams exactly what needs doing so they can get on with it confidently. Together with GovernorHub, Robin and our guidance and training, it means we can do more for the people who keep schools safe, and give leaders a clearer picture of where they stand. I’m delighted to welcome Luke and the team.”
Luke Pargeter, Founder and CEO, iAM Compliant, said:
“We created iAM Compliant because we saw first-hand how difficult it was for schools to manage their estates safely and effectively, particularly when teams were relying on spreadsheets, paper records and fragmented guidance.
“Joining The Key is an exciting opportunity to build on what we’ve achieved so far. We share a commitment to making life easier for the people working in schools and trusts, and this partnership gives us the opportunity to support even more of them with the tools, training and expertise they need.”
James Weatherill, CEO, The Key Group, said:
“After staff, the estate is the second-largest cost for schools. Managing it takes significant time, money and people. With budgets stretched, it’s vital that schools and trusts have better support to do it well.
“iAM Compliant has built an outstanding platform that really understands the challenges schools face when managing their estates. It turns complex requirements into practical actions, helping teams work more efficiently while maintaining the standards needed to keep their school communities safe. Bringing iAM Compliant into the group is a natural next step in our ambition to transform how schools and trusts work. We’re excited about what we can achieve with Luke and the team.”
